Gedakina Delivers “What Does Anti-Eugenics Look Like to You?” Class, Leading 10 Educators in Reflection and Empowerment
Gedakina organized a “What does Anti-Eugenics Look Like to You?” class this past week in our office in Princeton, Maine. We were joined by ten educators as well as Benedict Ipgrave from a global Anti-Eugenics project at the University College of London. The morning topics covered the history of eugenics in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, and how they were and are connected today. In the afternoon, Benedict followed up with Anti-Eugenics, the history and movement of the project. In addition to learning about some difficult topics, we shared hope. Hope for a better future for the next generations. Hope where old systems are destroyed and new systems flourish, full of respect, responsibilities, relationships, reverence and reciprocity.
